TOUR 4 - CONTEMPORARY MARGIN

Visit to Parque das Nações

The challenging architectural landscape
Modern

One breathes modernity when navigating along the banks of Parque das Nações. The surroundings of leisure spaces, where the green stands out, for conviviality and culture bring an incredible dynamic to the eastern side of the city of Lisbon, which, in 1990, was still an industrial area. This was the place where the 1998 World Exposition took place and several emblematic buildings of this prestigious event have remained here. The platform vaults of Gare do Oriente, by Santiago Calatrava, the Pavilhão de Portugal, by the Portuguese architect Álvaro Siza Vieira, the Altice Arena and the Lisbon Oceanarium are some examples. The Parque das Nações Marina, with an events pier and a pier bridge, is also a place of high interest, situated in the middle of the Tagus estuary natural reserve. It is, without a doubt, a tour with a lot of diversity.
