Over 450 years old, at the mouth of the Tagus River, in an estuary with strong currents, stands the Bugio Lighthouse - an international reference in the history of maritime military engineering. It took almost a hundred years to be built, it was called Torre de São Lourenço da Cabeça Seca, then it was the Fort of São Lourenço and only in the mid-19th century. XX, when it was disarmed, it became known as Farol do Bugio. The place where it rises is a sandbar formed by the silting of the mouth of the river, the result of the dynamics of the confluence of its waters with those of the Atlantic Ocean, at the rhythm of the tides. For centuries he was the protagonist of the most adventurous stories and our tour testifies to that!
